Note: For the remainder of 2024, Canal Walk access to Brown’s Island from the east will be diverted to Tredegar Street via Haxall Point and 10th Street. Pedestrians will still be able to access the east side of the island using the the pedestrian Bridge located underneath the Manchester bridge off of Tredegar Street. Those with bikes or wheeled mobility devices will most easily access the island via the 5th St. pedestrian bridge. Brown’s Island will still be accessible from all other direction as normal, utilizing the the 5th and 7th Street pedestrian bridges, the vehicular bridge across from the Civil War Museum, and the “TPott” bridge from the south side of the river.

FREE Bike Valet!
Because Dominion Energy Riverrock is an eco-friendly event and promotes physical activity, bike riding to the event is highly encouraged. We offer a FREE Bike Valet service, provided by I Am RVA, for anyone who rides their bike to the festival. Bike Valet will be located at the bottom of Brown’s Island Way and Tredegar Street.
Bike Valet Hours
- Friday from 5 – 10 p.m.
- Saturday from Noon – 10 p.m.
- Sunday from Noon – 5 p.m.
Any bike left after hours is done so at the risk of the owner.
Take a rideshare to and from the festival
The designated drop off/pick up location is at the corner of 7th and Canal St. at Kanawha Plaza.
Event Parking (carpooling encouraged)
Street parking is a free option – get to the event early to take advantage of this!
Event parking is available in the RMA parking deck Bordered by 9th, 10th, Byrd and Canal Streets and Riverside on the James parking decks at the corner of 10th & Tredegar Streets. The Federal Reserve Deck (bordered by 5th, 7th, Byrd, and Bragg) is also open for event parking. All vehicles wishing to park in the Federal Reserve Deck must access the deck by heading east on 7th St. and turning right onto Bragg St. NO vehicles will be able to access this deck from 5th St. All cars parked in the Federal Reserve Deck must be removed by 11:59 p.m. on Friday and Saturday evenings and 8 p.m. on Sunday evening. Please note: There is limited capacity in all parking decks.
The following CityParking surface lots are also offering paid parking for the event:
- 3rd/4th Streets between Cary and Canal Streets
- 4th/5th Streets between Cary and Canal Streets
You can also use the T. Tyler Potterfield Pedestrian Bridge to access Dominion Energy Riverrock.
Directions to Brown’s Island
From the north and west
Take I-64 east to I-95 south or just 95 south to the 3rd Street/Coliseum/Downtown Exit #75. You will be on 3rd Street. Go about 1 mile and at the 11th light, make a left on Byrd Street. Due to road closures for the festival, parking is necessary prior to reaching Brown’s Island. See parking recommendations above.
From the east
Take I-64 west to the 5th Street/Downtown/Coliseum Exit #190. Proceed straight through traffic light, you’ll be on 5th Street. Take 5th street toward Brown’s Island and park at your nearest convenience. Due to road closures for the festival, parking is necessary prior to reaching Brown’s Island. From the south (option 1)
Take I95 north to the Broad Street Exit #74C. Take the West/Coliseum direction. After a ramp takes you towards the right, you will then merge on to Broad Street. At the 5th traffic light, take a left on 8th Street. Take 8th street to the 5th light and make a right on Byrd Street. Take Byrd Street to the 2nd light and make a left on 5th Street. We recommend obtaining a parking spot at this point. Due to road closures for the festival, parking is necessary prior to reaching Brown’s Island. See parking recommendations above.
From the south (option 2)
Take the Powhite Parkway North. Once through main 70-cent toll, bear right towards downtown. Take I-195/Downtown Expressway through another 70-cent toll. Take the second exit, which says 2nd and Byrd streets. You are now on Byrd Street. At this point, it is recommended to begin looking for a parking spot. Due to road closures for the festival, parking is necessary prior to reaching Brown’s Island. See parking recommendations above.
